Objective
GSM mobile phones can greatly enhance the autonomy and quality of life of disabled and elderly people. The project aims to redesign and simplify existing mobile phones to meet the needs of such users, and make mobile phone services accessible to them, It will provide efficient access to emergency services, i.e. foolproof and fail-safe operating procedures, and ways of adding on equipment for hearing impaired users like text telephony, awareness of public alarms, speech intelligibility enhancement, and links to hearing aids, also reducing the interference of mobile phones on hearing aids. The result will be the Mobile Rescue (MORE) phone and system, using the GSM standard infrastructure.Existing public and private service centres will be upgraded with computer mapping equipment and software.
