HW/SW FOR: STORAGE OF VARIOUS MUSIC INPUT, CONVERSION OF DIFFERENT BRAILLE SYNTAX INTO SOUND, GRAPHICS, BRAILLE OUTPUT AND TELEMATIC ACCESS

Objective

The device developed by the PLAY project will enable blind musicians to write and print musical texts into Braille more quickly, to exchange data with people using different Braille syntactic codes all over Europe, to communicate with other users, transcription centres and libraries for blind people, and to make use of MIDI-related (Musical Instruments Digital Interface) systems and technology. PLAY is aimed at creating a HW/SW system designed for input, storage and for sound and graphic output (in black and Braille format) of musical pages. PLAY will permit input, output and reciprocal conversion of the Braille musical format into one of the four musical Braille syntax codes used in Europe; dissemination of various PLAY stations, connected together telematically; and the eventual creation of remote consulting stations.
