PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION OF BOILER PLANTS FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF LOW ENERGY CONSERVATION

Objective

THE POSSIBILITIES WERE STUDIED OF IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY OF BOILERS FOR DOMESTIC HEATING (80 DEGREES C, 100 KW). CALCULATIONS AND MEASUREMENTS SHOW THAT ENERGY SAVINGS UP TO 25 % ARE POSSIBLE.

HEAT RECOVERY FROM EXHAUST GASES, SHUTTING OF THE BOILER FROM THE HEAT DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WHEN IT IS NOT IN OPERATION, AND EXHAUST GAS VALUES HAVE PAYBACK TIMES OF 1.7; 0.5 AND 2.6 YEARS RESPECTIVELY. A COMPUTER SIMULATION MODEL HAS BEEN DEVELOPED FOR THE SELECTION OF BOILERS IN EXISTING AND NEW BUILDINGS. FOR DIFFERENT OPTIONS THIS COMPUTER MODEL CALCULATES THE EXPECTED ENERGY SAVINGS AND THE PAYBACK TIME.

IT MAY BE CONSIDERED AS A SUPPLEMENT TO COMPUTER SIMULATION MODELS FOR THE THERMAL BEHAVIOUR OF HOUSES WHICH ARE BEING DEVELOPED UNDER THE TOPIC "CHARACTERISTICS OF HOUSES".

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
