COMBUSTION ECONOMY IMPROVEMENT IN A BRICK FACTORY

Objective

Economically warrented production of bricks, in addition to quality enhancement. This also laeds to significant reduction of energy consumption and an essential emprovement/reduction of emissions by means of an new baking process making the production of bricks.
Objective of the investment :
to obtain a more efficient and even energy consumption in the baking of bricks. To that end the bricks are staked in cassettes.
In this way an even degassing of the fuel content of the bricks is achieved.
To conduct the combustion process in such a way that organic emission is considerable lower than in the normal baking process. Expected energy-saving : 739 toe/y.

* Innovative technology :
Baking of baricks partly consisting of solid fuels with a low calorific value, in such a manner that optimum combustion and thus an optimum baking process are achieved, resulting in fuel saving. Another innovative aspect consists in the afterburning of the flue gases in the tunnel oven during the baking process.
* context in which the technology is operating :
The baking process is effected in a newly built tunnel oven.
The dried bricks are placed in refractory cassettes.
* economic aspects of the technology :
About 1/3 of the European brick industry can utilize the new process. Saving about 20 % of current energy demand. Overcost compared to conventional equipment : about Ecu 1.100.000,--.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
