REVERSIBLE GAS FIRED HEAT PUMP FOR AIR-CONDITIONING OF COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN AREA

The demonstration operation is going to be carried out in an own installation with "standard" characteristics related to the aim of the project, making special emphasis in the equipment limiting capabilities of conditioning. The gas engine has an own design and it is intended to succeed in haring an engine-compressor group with a cost similar to that of a hermetic compressor of an electrical heat pump, making, if necessary, an engine re-design.
It is work while noting the untypical running of the installation because it is intended to use the building as a cold acummulator, some hours before the beginning of its normal activity and, in this way, to obviate the smaller refrigerating of the equipment related to that of an electrical heat pump. In the installation subject of the demonstration it is foreseen analysing, recording and monitoring continuously all the following variables :
- Gas consumption, running time, external temperature, internal temperature, internal relative moisture, fumes temperature, refrigerating water temperature, combustion products composition. These measures will be taken for 1 1/2 years and, at the end, will allow to make an actual comparative study of costs faced to other systems of air-conditioning.
