Objective
The purpose of the project is to demonstrate the clean and convenient handling of screenings coal and its successful combustion in a circulating fluidized bed with and output of 10 mw, with stack emissions eithin the british clean air act, i.E. The clean air/emissions of grit and dust from furnances regulation, 1971, nr.162.
As a secondary phase, the handling and burning of peat over a one week period will be demonstrated.
The project will be continually monitored during the construction phase and for a period of 6 months after.
The investment and saving estimates are based on:
- 10 000 tonnes of babyfood
- 7 500 tonnes of white cheddar cheese.
The major equipment of the project has the following specification:
Boiler rating 10 mw
Economiser heat extraction at m.C.R. 0.7 mw
Forced draught fans (3 off) 50 kw each
Induced draught fan (1 off) 30 kw
Coal storage silo 200 t
Silo filling rate 20 t/hour
Coal hoppers 6 t/hour
Hopper filling rate 5 t/hour
Ash storage silo 20 t
Bed material make-up hopper 150 kg
Air compressor output 0.43 m3/s
Air receiver capacity 3 m3
Exhaust gas temperature to chimney 180 c
Chimney efflux velocity 12 m/s
Boiler feed pump 15 kw
Planatory extractor 5 t/hour
Coal feed rate 1.75 t/hour.
