STYRENE PRODUCTION BY A LOW ENERGY PROCESS

Objective

Montedipe plans to construct a modern 50.000 ton/year styrene plant, incorporating a process jointly developed with Lurgi gmbh and deggendorfer werft und eisenbau gmbh. This will result in energy saving of 38 % compared to conventional processes, i.e. 3.750 TOE/year.

The heart of the new technology is the tubular reactor in which isothermal conditions are maintained due to the heat exhanged by the molten salts circulating in the mantle of the same reactor.
