RECOVERY OF HEAT BY CALCINATION OF PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRIAL WASTE

Objective

Aim of the project is to obtain from mother liquors and slurries of pharmaceutical industries a saltless gaseous fuel directly usable to produce steam. Energy savings should count for 1986 TOE/Y.
Depending on the waste, the recuperation of energy is more then foreseen, and this with respecting the environment.
The gaseous fuel is obtained by evaporation of the gaseous and organic waste in 2 heat exchangers. These gases are sent to the burner.
The liquid phase, which contains the organic and inorganic salts and long chain hydrocarbons, is sent directly to the calcinator (pyrolyser).
The gases of this calcinator are also sent to the burner.
The ashes of the calcinator are sent to an industrial deposit.
Because the two gas streams are almost saltless and free of dust, it is possible to install a normal waste heat boiler.
The fumes coming from this boiler passes washing towers and an electrofilter.
The whole project contains following sections :
- evaporation section
- pyrolyser section
- burner section
- waste heat boiler
- fume treatment.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
