Objective
To erect an olive oil mill with a total cold extraction of the oil in a single stage (olio di oliva extravergine) and with a total recovery of the subproducts (shells, core oil, olive husks) for industrial use. The mill will have no water or air polluting effluents. The innovatory aspects are : cellular opening of the olive pulp, separation of paraffin and wax oil, increase of the protein level of the olive husks, aerobic treatment of the polluting waters in a through running process. The mill can be used even to get oil from sun flowers, mais, soja, palm nuts.
Olive waste treatment : very positive.
Olive cellular breaking : ongoing.
The proposed olive oil mill is able to extract in a single stage extravirgin olive oil at a temperature below 25 deg.C. It allows, further, the recovery of milling subproducts such as shells, core oil and husks to use them as saleable products for industry or agro-industry market at a very interesting price. The mill shall have no water or air polluting effluents, as the case of the mechanical conventional mill.
The mill can work indifferently several kind of oil containing products (sun flower seeds, mais germs, soja germs) so that it can run continuously the whole year and not in a limited period of time. The return of the investment, calculated only on the base of the energy savings, for a 3 months campaign, is of 2.8 years.
If it is calculated only on the economical value of the products, it would be of 1.5 years. This return of the investment gives to the project the possibility to work on the market widely. It would be wider if the oil mill works, with other fruits, all overthe year continuously.
The olive production in Italy is about 3.400.000 ton/year. About 3.000.000 ton are warked in about 7.000 oil mills to get about 600 ton of extra virgin oil. If only 5% of these oil mills, that is 350, use this new technology, they would have a potential market of about 350"0 milliard of Italian Lire only in Italy.
The repetition of the plant will cost about 30% less than the prototype.
The plant will work in the olive mill of the President of the Oil Mill Union of Abruzzo.
