ENERGY SAVING IN AN INNOVATIVE SYSTEM FOR PRESSING STEEL PARTS

Objective

The demonstration project involves the development of an automatic full size system pressing process known as semi-hot pressing.

Since the process employed currently do not meet the requirements for the quality and use of steels with a high C content, it is proposed the innovative semi-hot pressing system consisting in the following : heating the material to 700-750 deg. C (recrystallisation temp. to enable permanent deformation of high C content steels), semi-hot pressing, cold coining. The main new equipment is a 1250 tons semi-hot press.
Innovation lies in the new semi-hot press. The system is new for Europe.
