Objective
To develop a new type of furnace, suitable for both manual and automatic working of molten glass.
The results in terms of energy saved and production quality conform to or are better than expected.
The I.V.V. Company having used for long time batch pot type furnaces which are consumers of large amounts of energy and raw material, desired to find a way of reducing these consumptions. It was envisaged to use a special day tank type furnace, equipped with two drawings cups, one for manual glass drawing, the other suitable for both automatic working and emptying the furnace.
In this way the advantage of the day task furnace (low energy consumption) is associated with the possibility of continuing the taditional working method.
The advantage is particularly sensible in case of colored glass melting, since it is no longer necessary to perform the operations connected with the "washing" of the furnace, because this one can be drained almost completely.
