Objective
To demonstrate the cost and energy effectiveness of using electric powered minibuses in a large, urban environment.
The first phase of this project called for the design of a prototype vehicle, the second for the manufacture and demonstration of the Fiat Daily E2 type minibuses each of 4,500 maximum weight, 55 km/h maximum speed and range of 70 km in urban conditions.
Four buses will be equipped with standard PB batteries. For comparative purposes, the other four with Ni/Fe batteries. The motor will be a type MT 310-22/192, the electronic regulator type TVM 192-200/450. The vehicles will be demonstrated and monitored in the centre of rome for a period of 34 months.
Annual energy savings of 15 TOE for the 8 minibuses is projected.
