Exploitable results
ENVISYS will develop a complete system for the monitoring of sea pollution due to oil spills. The early detection of oil spills and the provision of support to public authorities during clean-up operation. It is based essentially on Satellite Remote Sensing Features.
Modules to acquire and treat the satellite images (SAR technology) in order to evaluate oil spill dimension and weather conditions will be made commercially available, as well as system components for false alarm reduction, oil spill behaviour models for forecasting and an event data base. Regional and national marine authorities that plan the Emergency Management for marine and coastal protection are potential users world-wide.
