MECHANIZED SYSTEM FOR HARVESTING, TRANSPORT, STORAGE AND PROCESSING OF FOREST BIOMASS IN THE DEGRATED ARES (PREBIFOR).

Objective

THE RESEARCH AIMS AT DEFINING AN ECONOMICALLY VALUABLE MECHANIZATION SYSTEM ABLE TO SATISFY THE NEEDS OF A MORE RATIONAL AND ECONOMICAL UTILIZATION OF THE FOREST RESOURCES IN DEGRADED AREAS IN THE APENNINES.

THE RESEARCH IS DIVIDED INTO 4 PHASES:
1. PHASE: SURVEY OF THE PRESENT OPERATING CONDITIONS
1.A) TYPE OF TREES AND EXTENSION OF EXISTING ITALIAN FORESTS
1.B) PRESENT POSSIBLE OPERATIONS IN THE ITALIAN FORESTS
1.C) MORPHOLOGY OF THE SOIL
1.D) PRESENT UTILIZATION OF THE DRAWED WOOD
1.E) ANALYSIS OF THE OPERATIVE-TECHNICAL CONDITIONS
1.F) YIELD IN T/H/MAN
1.G) PRESENT COST OF THE WOOD
1.H) LACKS AND LIMITS OF THE SYSTEMS IN USE
1.I) EXPERIMENTAL EQUIPMENTS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS
1.J) PHOTOGRAFIC MATERIALS

2. PHASE: ANALYSIS OF THE NEW PROJECT
2.A) PRESENT WOOD DRAWING FROM FOREST (T/HA/YEAR)
2.B) AVERAGE NATURAL INCREASE (T/HA/YEAR)
2.C) POSSIBLE WOOD DRAWINGS FROM FORESTS (T/HA/YEAR)
2.D) EXAMPLES OF GREAT QUANTITIES POSSIBLE USES OF THE WOOD DRAWABLE FROM FORESTS
2.E) COST CONDITIONS WHICH MAKE POSSIBLE LARGER WOOD DRAWINGS
2.F) NEW EQUIPMENTS AND WORK ORGANIZATION TO REDUCE COST AND THUS MAKE POSSIBLE LARGER WOOD DRAWINGS

3. PHASE: NEW PROJECT
3.A) PRELIMINARY PROJECT OF COMBINED SELF-PROPELLING MACHINE
3.B) ESTIMATED COSTS OF THE COMBINED SELF-PROPELLING MACHINE
3.C) MACHINE TIME PRODUCTIVITY (T/H)
3.D WORKING-PLACE ORGANIZATION
3.E) STAFF NEEDED

4. PHASE: ECONOMIC ANALYSIS
4.A) SYSTEM TIME PRODUCTIVITY (T/HA/MAN)
4.B) WOOD COST
4.C) ANALYSIS OF PROFITABILITY

AT PRESENT WE HAVE FINISHED PHASE 1 AND JUST STARTED PHASE 2.
