Objective
C.A.F.COL SOCIETA COOPERATIVA AGRICOLA FORESTALE "COLLELONGO" IS INVOLVED IN OPERATING PROJECTS DEALING WITH THE BIOMASS DERIVED FROM "BOSCO CEDUO". ITS MAJOR ACTIVITY IS RELATED WITH THE IMPROVEMENT OF PRODUCTIVITY OF THE "BOSCO CEDUO" BUT IT IS ALSO ACTIVE IN TESTING NEW EFFICIENT SYSTEMS FOR DEFORESTATION.
THE PUPROSE OF THE CEC-C.A.F.COL RESEARCH CONTRACT IS TO STUDY THE DIFFERENT PYROLYTIC CONVERSION PROCESSES APPLIED TO FOREST DERIVED BIOMASS IN ORDER TO OPTIMIZE THE YIELD AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FINAL PYROLYSIS PRODUCT AND GIVE POSITIVE ELEMENTS FOR TECHNICAL-ECONOMICAL EVELUATION OF A PYROLYSIS PLANT. THE OPTIMIZATION WILL BE ORIENTED, BY MEANS OF A MARKET ANALYSIS, TO THE RPODUCT MORE SUITABLE FOR A RELIABLE COMMERCIAL USE. THE RESEARCH IS ALSO INTENDED TO ALLOW C.A.F.COL TO BE INVOLVED IN A COMPLETE FOREST BIOMASS CYCLE: PRODUCTION - TRANSFORMATION - UTILIZATION.
AT PRESENT THE RESEARCH IS AT THE FIRST PHASE IN WHICH THE MOST OF AVAILABLE INFORMATION ON PYROLYSIS PROCESSES HAVE BEEN COLLECTED BY MEANS OF CONTACTS WITH UNIVERSITIES, INSTITUTES, ETC. AND THE DESIGN BASIS AND DESIGN CRITERIA HAVE BEEN STATED.
1ST PHASE: PRELIMINARY STUDY
DURING THIS PHASE ALL THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCESSES AND THE APPLICATIONS WILL BE COLLECTED AND ELABORATED. CONTACTS WITH UNIVERSITIES, INSTITUTES ETC. WILL BE TAKEN IN ORDER TO HAVE THE WIDEST KNOWLEDGE OF THE "STATE OF THE ART". MOREOVER THE DESIGN BASIS AND THE GENERAL DESIGN CRITERIA WILL BE STATED AND VERIFIED.
2ND PHASE: PROCESS DESIGN
DURING THIS PHASE ALL THE BASIC DOCUMENTATION OF THE WORK WILL BE DEVELOPED ACCORDING TO THE RESULTS OF THE FIRST PHASE. IN PARTICULAR THE FOLLOWING MAIN DOCUMENTS WILL BE PREPARED:
- PROCESS FLOW DIAGRAMS
- P AND I DIAGRAMS
- PLANT LAY-OUT
- MATERIAL AND ENERGY BALANCES
- EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENT PROCESS SPECIFICATIONS.
THE OPTIMIZATION WILL BE ORIENTED ALSO TO IDENTIFY THE TYPE OF PYROLYTIC PRODUCT MORE CONVENIENT AND AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET. THEREFORE THE MARKET ANALYSIS, RELEVANT TO ITALY IN PARTICULAR, WILL BE DEVELOPED, ON THE BASE OF THE DATA OF THE OPERATING PLANTS, RELEVANT TO EVERY KIND OF PRODUCT.
3RD PHASE: ENGINEERING
DURING THIS PHASE THE DETAILED ENGINEERING WILL BE CARRIED OUT. QUALIFIED EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY MANUFACTURERS WILL BE CONTACTED IN ORDER TO SEARCH OUT FROM THE TECHNICAL AND ECONOMICAL POINT OF VIEW THE APPLICATION OF THE AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGIES.
4TH PHASE: FINAL REPORT
DURING THIS PHASE THE RESULTS OF THE PREVIOUS PHASES WILL BE ELABORATED AND A DETAILED PROJECT FOR A TYPICAL PLANT FOR FOREST DERIVED BIOMASS CONVERSION WILL BE FINALIZED.
