Objective
WITH THE PROTOTYPE OF ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP IN THE LOW POWER RANGE (DEVELOPMENT UNDER RESEARCH PROJECT EE-A4-065 ) THE FUNCTIONAL AND OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY OF SUCH PLANTS COULD BE ESTABLISHED. THE HEAT BALANCE INDICATE THAT 35% OF THE INPUT ENERGY COULD BE COUPLED AS LOW TEMPERATURE HEAT SOURCE BUT THE LOSSES OF THE FIRST PROTOTYPE ARE CONSIDERABLY HIGHER THAN THOSE IN MODERN GAS HEATING DEVICES DUE TO CONVECTION AND RADIATION.
HENCE AN IMPROVED VERSION WILL BE CONSTRUCTED, BY WHICH THESE LOSSES COULD BE MINIMIZED, BY EMPLOYING THE USUAL MEASURES IN HEATING TECHNOLOGY. NEVERTHELESS, CONSTRUCTIVE MODIFICATIONS IN THE CRITICAL COMPONENTS, ESPECIALLY THE ABSORBER SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT, AND THEIR EFFECT ON THE OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM (PLANT) INVESTIGATED.
IN THE PRESENT RESEARCH PROJECT, FIVE AIMS ARE TO BE PURSUED:
1.- ENERGETICAL AND ECONOMICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPROVED PROTOTYPE BY MEASURING THE PERTINENT OPERATIONAL DATA UNDER CHARACTERISTICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL CONDITIONS DURING THE HEATING PERIOD.
2.- LONG TERM EXPERIMENTS ON THE COMPATIBILITY AND CORROSION BEHAVIOUR OF THE EMPLOYED MATERIALS WITH THE WORKING MIXTURE.
3.- FORMULATION OF A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR THE OPERATION OF THE PROTOTYPE FOR THE SIMULATION OF THE EXPERIMENTAL OPERATION IN POINT 1. BY THIS MEANS A SUBSTANTIAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE PLANT OPERATION UNDER REAL CONDITIONS COULD BE OBTAINED.
4.- THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF THE MULTI-COMPONENT MIXTURES WITH THE AIM OF EXPLOITING THE SPECIAL THERMODYNAMICAL PROPERTIES OF THESE MIXTURES FOR THE HEAT PUMP TECHNOLOGY.
5.- BASED UPON THE EXPERIENCES WITH THE SINGLE-STAGE PERIODICALLY OPERATING HEAT PUMP, A TWO-STAGE PUMP IS TO BE DEVELOPED WITH THE AIM TO IMPROVE THE ANNUAL PRIMARY ENERGY RATIO.
