Objetivo
DEVELOPING AND ADAPTING OF 3D COMBUSTION MODELLING, ADVANCED LASER DIAGNOSTICS AND EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF SINGLE CYCLE ANALYSIS OF ENGINE COMBUSTION. VALIDATION OF THESE ANALYTICAL TOOLS UNDER ENGINE CONDITION - APPLICATION OF THESE TOOLS IN SPECIAL TRANSPARENT COMBUSTION CHAMBERS TO PROVIDE AN IMPROVED UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROCESSES CONTROLLING COMBUSTION - DERIVATION OF SCHEMES FOR ENHANCING COMBUSTION. TESTING OF CONTROL SCHEMES WITH REGARDS TO THEIR POTENTIAL FOR MINIMISING FUEL CONSUMPTION AND TOXIC RAW EMISSIONS ORIGINATING IN THE FINAL PHASE OF COMBUSTION.
A) INCORPORATION OF RECENT KNOWLEDGES ON REACTION KINETICS AND TURBULENT COMBUSTION MODELLING INTO EXISTING 3D ENGINE CODE.
B) DEVELOPMENT OF ADVANCED LASER DIAGNOSTICS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF EXPERIMENTAL VALUES OF TEMPERATURE, SPECIES, TURBULENCE PARAMETERS AND FLAME SPEEDS.
C) DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF SPECIFIC TEST RIGS FOR DEVELOPING THE ABOVE TOOLS INTO AN APPLICABLE FORM
THREE WORKING STAGE ARE FORESEEN :
- DEVELOPMENT OF APPROPRIATE MODELLING, DIAGNOSTIC AND EXPERIMENTAL TOOLS.
- DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE FINAL PHASE OF ENGINE COMBUSTION AND DERIVATION OF CONTROLLING FACTORS.
- SINGLE CYLINDER ENGINE TEST OF POSSIBLE CONTROL SCHEMES WITH REGARDS TO THEIR POTENTIAL FAR FUEL SAVING AND EMISSION REDUCTION.
