Objective THE AIM OF THE PROPOSED R AND D PROGRAMME IS TO STUDY SOLID STATE SECONDARY CELLS, WORKING AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, TO REALIZE A PROTOTYPE WITH A FEW AH CAPACITY AND TO TEST ITS CYCLABILITY EFFICIENCY, IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH THE PRACTICAL FEASIBILITY OF SUCH A DEVICE. THE ADVANTAGES OF SUCH A BATTERY ARE THE HIGH POSSIBLE ENERGY DENSITY (DUE TO THE USE OF LI) AND A NEGLIGIBLE SELF DISCHARGE (DUE TO THE USE OF THAT SOLID ELECTROLYTE) WITHOUT MAINTENANCE. FUTURE APPLICATIONS, ACCORDING TO THE SIZE OF THE DEVICE, ARE VERY NUMEROUS, THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THEM IS THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE POWER SOURCE.
