Objective
THE PROCESS TO BE DEVELOPED IS INTENTED TO PLACE THE USER IN THE POSITION OF BEING ABLE TO PRODUCE CWF WHICH:
- CAN HAVE AS STARTING MATERIAL AS MANY DIFFERENT COAL TYPES AS POSSIBLE;
- CAN BE ECONOMICALLY PRODUCED IN A TECHNICALLY SIMPLE WAY;
- ENABLES MORE POSSIBILITIES FOR APPLICATION IN THE FUTURE;
- REDUCES ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS DURING USE.
THE RESULTS OF THE INVESTIGATIONS MUST MEET THE INTENDED AIMS, DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
- PRODUCTION OF A CWF WITH A COAL CONTENT OF 70% BY WEIGHT AND AS LOW A MINERAL AND SULPHUR CONTENT AS POSSIBLE;
- PRODUCING A CWF WITH GOOD COMBUSTION PROPERTIES.
DURING THE PRODUCTION OF COAL-WATER FUELS (CWFS) THE ACHIEVEMENT OF HIGHER CONCENTRATIONS OF COAL, WHICH ARE NECESSARY FOR PROBLEM-FREE AND ECONOMIC COMBUSTION, IS OFTEN MADE MORE DIFFICULT DUE TO THE MINERAL CONTENTS OF THE COAL. THE NUMBER OF COALS FROM WHICH CWFS CAN BE PRODUCED IS THEREFORE LIMITED.
FOR THE USE OF CWFS IN THE COMBUSTION IN DIESEL ENGINES AND GAS TURBINES, A VERY LOW PROPORTION OF MINERALS IS REQUIRED DUE TO THE SPECIAL FEATURES OF THIS TYPE OF COMBUSTION.
AS A FUEL, COAL IS, IN GENERAL, BURDENED WITH THE POSSIBLE ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AS A RESULT OF THE SULPHUR CONTENT. ALSO FOR CWF'S THE REDUCTION OF THIS SULPHUR CONTENT IS A NECESSARY MEASURE FROM AN ECOLOGICAL POINT OF VIEW.
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF COAL-WATER FUELS WITH A HIGH COAL CONTENT AND LOW CONTENTS OF SULPHUR AND MINERAL COMPONENTS AND TO CARRY OUT AN ECONOMIC APPRAISAL OF THE PROCESS.
