Objective
TO STUDY THE REACTION BETWEEN WATER AND ROCK IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF REACTIONS THAT HAPPEN IN A HOT DRY ROCK SYSTEM, WITH EMPHASIS ON PARTITION OF TRACE ELEMENTS.
THE AIM OF THIS STUDY IS TO ESTABLISH A QUANTITATIVE MODEL THAT WILL ENABLE CALCULATION OF THE CONCENTRATIONS OF VARIOUS TRACE ELEMENTS DISSOLVED IN A HYDROTHERMAL LIQUID AS A FUNCTION OF THE NATURE OF THE ROCK, TEMPERATURE ETC. THE TWO MAIN PARAMETERS IN SUCH A MODEL ARE THE DISTRIBUTION CONSTANTS. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY IS THE DETERMINATION OF THE TRANSFER COEFFICIENT DURING DISSOLUTION AND THE DISTRIBUTION COEFFICIENT FOR VARIOUS ELEMENTS BETWEEN SOLID PHASE AND SOLUTION. THE BEST WAY TO DETERMINE THESE COEFFICIENTS IS TO LINK THEM WITH CONCENTRATIONS OF BULK ELEMENTS THAT THEY CAN REPLACE IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE CRYSTAL (RB AND CS FOLLOW K). EXPERIMENTS ARE PERFORMED AT TEMPERATURES OF 50 TO 200C.
SAMPLES OF ALBITE AND ORTHOSE PROVIDED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF KARLSRUHE HAVE BEEN STUDIED. RB/K RATIOS HAVE BEEN DETERMINED AND IT APPEARS THAT THESE TWO ELEMENTS ARE LIBERATED IDENTICALLY. THE BEHAVIOUR OF SR AND CA IS ANOMALOUS. RESEARCH ON PRECIPITATION AND COPRECIPITATION IS CONTINUING.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
