Objective
THE ELABORATION OF A HERMES MODEL FOR THE UNITED STATES, JAPAN AND AGGREGATED EUROPE ALLOWS TO IMPROVE THE COMMON MULTI-NATIONAL HERMES MODEL AS WELL AS TO ENLARGE ITS APPLICATION POSSIBILITIES AND CONSEQUENTLY ITS USEFULNESS.
THE REPRESENTATION OF AMERICAN AND JAPANESE ECONOMIES ENABLES TO GENERATE MORE VALID INFORMATION FOR THE EUROPEAN COUNTRIES IN THE SENSE THAT PRICES AND DEMANDS FOR US AND JAPAN CAN BE CALCULATED BY MODEL AND IN THAT WAY ENDOGENOUSLY INFLUENCE THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIES VIA THE BILATERIAL TRADE FLOW MARKETS.
THE ELABORATION OF AN AGGREGATED EUROPEAN MODEL ALLOWS DIRECT AND MORE SIMPLE ANALYSIS FOR EUROPE SEEN IN A WORLD CONTEXT (IN RESPECT TO JAPAN AND THE US). THE CORRESPONDING STUDIES WOULD BE EASIER TO ACHIEVE THAN USING THE WHOLE SYSTEM OF LINKED FULL-SCALE MODELS. NEVERTHELESS, THEY WOULD ONLY BE A PRELIMINARY PHASE, AS FAR AS THE NATIONAL STUDIES ARE "IN FINE" THE PREFERENCE SHARE.
A. SYNTHETIC AND COMPARATIVE STUDY OF HERMES MODELS FOR EUROPE :
- MODEL STRUCTURES AND RESULTS,
- INTERNATIONAL LINKAGE MODEL, MSLINK.
B. DEVELOPMENT OF MACROSECTORAL MODELS FOR THE EEC, USA AND JAPAN.
1. STUDY OF ECONOMIC SPECIFICITIES AND APPROPRIATE SPECIFICATIONS FOR U.S. AND JAPAN,
2. STUDY OF EXISTING AND OPERATIONAL MACROSECTORAL MODELS,
3. CONSTRUCTION AND UPDATE OF MACROECONOMIC MODELS FOR THE UNITED STATES, JAPAN AND AGGREGATE EUROPE.
4. ESTIMATION OF SECTORAL COMPONENTS IN THE MACROECONOMIC MODELS ACCORDING TO AVAILABLE DATA AND THE RESULTS OF STAGE 1 AND STEP 1 TO 3 OF STAGE 2,
5. SIMULATION OVER PAST OF EQUATIONS AVAILABLE FROM STEP 4 IN THE SET-UP OF THE MACROMODELS CONSTRUCTED IN STEP 3.
