Objective
AE A RESULT OF THIS RESEARCH THE COMMISSION WILL HAVE A MODEL SYSTEM CAPABLE OF SIMULATING THE WORLD ECONOMY, TAKING ENERGY INTO CONSIDERATION BOTH IN INTERNATIOANL TRADE AND AT THE LEVEL OF NATIONAL DEMAND. IN ADDITION THE RE-ESTIMATED MODELS WILL GIVE THE EXISTING HERMES MODELS AN INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION. THE EXPLANATION OF NATIONAL ECONOMIES FURNISHED BY THESE MODELS WILL BE COMPLETE AND INTERACTIVE WITH THE OPERATION OF OUTSIDE ECONOMIES: THIS WILL IMPROVE THE ACCURACY OF THE RESULTS. FINALLY, WITH THIS INTEGRATED SYSTEM FULL STUDIES ON THE COMPLETION OF THE INTERNAL MARKET OR THE IMPACT OF ENERGY PRICE CHANGES CAN BE FINALIZED AND USED BY THE COMMISSION DEPARTEMENTS THAT HAVE ALREADY EXPRESSED REQUIREMENTS.
THE WORK CONCERNS THE RESTRUCTURING OF THE COMET MODEL FOR THE UNITED STATES, JAPAN AND THE SMALLER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. IN ADDITION TO RE-ESTIMATION, COMPLETE TUNING WILL BE CARRIED OUT FOR THESE MODELS, INCLUDING THE CALCULATION OF MULTIPLIERS. FINALLY, THE BILATERAL TRADE FLOW SYSTEM WILL BE CONNECTED TO THE RE-ESTIMATED MODELS AND TO THE MODELS FOR GERMANY AND THE NETHERLANDS AND THE HERMES MODEL FOR FRANCE, BELGIUM, ITALY AND THE UNITED KINGDOM.
