Objective
DURING ONE YEAR (MAY 87-APRIL 88) SPAIN HAS PARTICIPATED IN THE PASSYS CONCERTED ACTION. AN ENGINEER HAS WORKED WITH THE FRENCH TEAM AT CSTB OF SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS (FRANCE).
THE TWO MAIN SUBJECTS HAVE BEEN:
1.- SIMPLIFIED DESIGN TOOLS (SDT). IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE CONFIDENCE IN USING THE SIMULATION PROGRAM ESP AS WELL AS TO VERIFY THE COHERENCE BETWEEN ESP AND HEAT REQUIREMENT ASSESSMENT SIMPLIFIED TOOLS, A REFERENCE BUILDING HAS BEEN DEFINED. BY SIMULATING THIS REFERENCE BUILDING IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO DEFINE APPROPRIATE CORRELATIONS TO EVALUATE PASSIVE BUILDING BEHAVIOUR.
2.- VALIDATION AND MODEL DEVELOPMENT. AS FAR AS AIR FLOW PROCESSES ARE CONCERNED, A GREAT NUMBER OF SIMULATIONS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED TO COMPARE ESP RESULTS WITH OTHER ANALYTICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL DATA IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE SELECTED SIMULATION PROGRAM ESP.
BETWEEN THE ACTIVITIES OF THIS SUBGROUP WE HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE MODELLING OF PASSIVE SOLAR COMPONENTS (PSC) MOUNTED IN THE PASSYS CELL. A LIST OF EXERCISES WAS PROPOSED TO ENSURE THAT ALL PARTICIPANTS AGREED ON HOW TO MODEL PSC'S AND TO GIVE EXPERIENCE IN USING ESP. THESE EXERCISES HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT JOINTLY WITH THE FRENCH TEAM OF THE CSTB.
BESIDES THE PARTICIPATION ON THE "SIMPLIFIED DESIGN TOOLS" AND "VALIDATION AND MODEL DEVELOPMENT" SUBGROUPS, WE HAVE COLLABORATED IN THE CALIBRATION TESTS OF THE CELL PLACED IN THE CSTB OF SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS. THE OBJECTIVE WAS THE CHARACTERIZATION OF THE THERMAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE CELL WITH THE "ADIABATIC" WALL MOUNTED IN THE SOUTH FACADE. THIS IS THE FIRST STEP FOR THE CHARACTERIZATION OF FUTURE PSC'S.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
