DEVELOPMENT OF A 500 KW WIND TURBINE WITH STALL REGULATION AND 36 M DIAMETER.

Objective

THE PROJECT CONSISTS IN THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, TESTING AND OPERATION OF A MEDIUM SIZE WIND TURBINE WITH THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS:

- POWER : APP. 500 KW
- DIAMETER : APP. 36 M
STALL CONTROL.

THE WIND TURBINE WILL BE BUILT AT ODDESUND, IN THE NW OF DENMARK IN CONNECTION TO AN EXISTING WIND FARM. THE ANNUAL MEAN WIND SPEED IN THE 10 M HEIGHT IS ABOUT 7 M/S, WHICH MEANS THAT THE MACHINE MUST BE BUILT FOR A RATHER TOUGH WIND REGIME.

THE PROJECT CAN BE DIVIDED IN THE FOLLOWING PHASES:

PHASE 1 :
A DESIGN PHASE, WHERE THE STARTING POINT WILL BE A 300 KW WIND TURBINE, ALREADY BUILT BY DANREGN VINDKRAFT A/S AT ODDESUND. HOWEVER IN THE DESIGN OF THE NEW MACHINE IT WILL BE AIMED AT INTRODUCING INTERESTING INNOVATIVE FEATURES, AS COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS BONUS WIND TURBINE DESIGN :

- NEW DRIVE TRAIN ARRANGEMENT AND SUPPORT.
- NEW GENERATOR CONCEPT.
- NEW BRAKING CONCEPTS.
- NEW BLADE ROOT STRUCTURE.

PHASE 2 :
THE ASSEMBLY WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE DANREGN VINDKRAFT A/S WORKS IN BRANDE TOGETHER WITH THE SHOP TESTING.

PHASE 3 :
THE CONSTRUCTION, TESTING AND OPERATION WILL TAKE PLACE AT ODDENSUND, WHERE FACILITIES FOR THE STAFF WILL BE ERECTED DURING THE TEST PERIOD.

PHASE 4 :
THE DURATION OF OPERATION UNDER DANREGN VINDKRAFT A/S MANAGEMENT IS FORESEEN TO BE APP. 3 YEARS. IN THIS PERIOD OPERATION DATA WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE COMMISSION.
