The result is PSEconomy, an open software framework for:
- Estimating capital investment costs for a process system
- Estimating operation & maintenance costs and revenues throughout the life cycle of a process system based on user-selected operational, economic and market scenarios
- Optimizing the through-life economic performance of a process system
PSEconomy is implemented as an extension module of IPSEpro, a commercially available process modelling and simulation package available from SimTech.
As all other parts of IPSEpro, PSEconomy is not limited to a specific field of application or to a particular type of process system. Instead, it is adjusted for a specific area of application through the use of an appropriate model library and cost database.
One model library and cost database has been developed as part of the project: GTPOM_Lib.
GTPOM_Lib is model library and cost correlation database developed according to the needs of the project partner. It provides the user with a large number of "standardised" component models for manipulation within new and novel gas turbine cycles.
This model library and cost correlation database resides within the IPSEpro/PSEconomy software framework. It provides the user with a large number of "standardised" component models for manipulation within new and novel gas turbine cycles. Each of these component models (where applicable) contains design-point and off-design performance models, an investment cost model and a maintenance cost model. These component models are by their nature "generic" and therefore represent standardised or typical performance and cost models such that any user has the ability to construct new cycles without the need to build new component models.
The IPSEpro/PSEconomy framework provides all means for extending GTPOM_Lib or to create new model libraries and cost correlation databases for different fields of application.
