Biomass chp plants with gas turbine and pebble heater

Objective

Three SMEs want to develop a technology for the use of biomass for combined heat and power production, based on an indirectly fired cycle with Pebble-Heaters as regenerative heat exchangers, gas turbine in radial design and biomass combustor. The previous positive experiences with those components and some preliminary estimations indicate that the objectives of EURO 1500/KWe investment cost and EURO 0,05/kWh power production cost are achievable for small capacities (less than 5MWth). In the proposed "Exploratory Award" - phase the feasibility check of such plant will be analysed through a critical survey of available literature and own experience. The market possibilities will be analysed, especially in connection with SMUs in fostery and agricultural sector, as well as with individual farmers. The previous commercial contacts and the CORDIS database will be exploited in the search for additional partners. Finally, the planning and the proposal for a combined R&D and demonstration project will be prepared and submitted to the Commission.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
