Thematic network on combined heat and power (CHAPNET)

Objective

The development of Combined Heat & Power is a crucial technology for the energy sector. This TN will advance excellence in CHP, ensuring EU global leadership in its research, development & application. The network will focus on key clusters for medium to long term RTD, thus maximising the benefits to the Community. These clusters and other work packages will include micro-CHP, trigeneration, gas engine applications, optirnisation of CHP components, pre-normative research, education & training & the needs of Accession Countries. The consortium brings together innovation, global reach, effective networking & leaders from industry & academia. The challenge for the TN is to develop a critical mass of expertise for CHP that will provide the tools necessary to ensure CHP meets the expectations in terms of environmental improvement, competitiveness & security of energy supply. The network will be a catalyst for CHP RTD in Europe.
