Objective
The project will focus on optimisation and improvement of biomass/waste derived fuel gasification process and utilisation of gasification ashes in order to improve the overall feasibility of biomass/waste derived fuel based energy production. The first stage of the project is the optimisation of the large-scale (fluid-bed) gasification process (improvement of carbon conversion reduction of ash volume, optimisation of use of additives). The second stage is focused on development of advanced components (ash oxidation and selective fractioning of fly ash) for the gasification process to increase carbon conversion further, reduce ash volume and improve ash quality in order to enable utilisation of gasification ash. Ash utilisation options will be screened and new methods will be developed based on ash qualities characterised in the project. Finally the techno economic feasibility of improvements will be evaluated.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
