First guide vanes are an important part of a radial compressor stage. The flow interactions between the first guide vanes and the impeller of the radial compressor are not explained enough yet. In the project the experimental investigations for guide vanes of two different geometry will be carried on - one palisade with the S - shape profiles and one with the two-part profiles. The earlier investigations shown that the improving of the flow parameters between the first guide vanes and an impeller can be expected with the use of these palisades. The investigations should be carry on as a part of the common project of Turbo machinery Laboratory of University Hannover in Germany and Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Rhode Saint Genese in Belgium "Optimisation of the inlet guide vanes II". Investigation results will be used as a base for comparison with the numerical simulation results. Better recognition of the flow interactions and a simplified guide vanes calculation model as a results of the project are expected. The work at the Turbo machinery Laboratory of University Hannover should give the applicant possibility to carry on investigations that could not be carried on at the Chair of Thermal Engineering of the Poznan University of Technology, because of lack of the test facilities and equipment that make possible more serious investigations of the radial compressors, investigations that could be carried on with the use of equipment and the test facilities being in possession of Turbo machinery Laboratory of University Hannover. Also mastering of new measurement and data elaboration methods, as well as new methodologies of research will be a benefit. Very independent work is expected, including very close collaboration with the production facility. Learning from high-class experts is also a benefit. The host can expect better recognition of flow interactions and help in his own project.
