Objective
The present action will explore the 6th FWP instruments as means to boost integration of new and renewable energies for electricity and water production as a contribution to EU outermost regions and similar third countries regions sustainable development. The action will analyse three 6th FWP instruments: Article 169, networks of excellence and integrated projects, and will create an appropriate framework to implement Articles 169 and 299 (2) of the Amsterdam Treaty. This overall objective will be achieved by identifying functional links between the institutions and programmes, at local (outermost region), national (Member States and Candidate Countries) and community (EU) levels, to provide a specific co-operative implementation structure at these levels. The action will also identify possible integrated projects to address energy and water problems in EU outermost regions and will create the basis for a Network of Excellence.
