Objective
The content of this proposal is to develop intermediate steps for the roll-to-roll fabrication of flexible, lightweight and cost effective CIGS based solar cells.
2 novel approaches will be applied:
i) Manufacturing of large cells (7x7cm2) on non-insulated steel foils without patterning. Instead, the TCO window will be modified by deposition of an additional metallic grid.
ii) Fabrication of very lightweight monolithically integrated modules of up to 30x30cm2 by a "substrate-lift-off" process using thin polymer Additionally large-area cells (5x5cm2) on a polymer coated metal foil will demonstrate the compatibility of this lift-off technique for roll-to-roll manufacturing. The modules will be flexible contacted as well as encapsulated.
