Energy and comfort control for building management systems

Objective

The objective is to develop a new generation of control devices for solar shading systems, glare control systems, electric lighting and HVAC systems for the simultaneous optimisation of building energy consumption and comfort. They can reduce the peak-cooling load to less than 50% above the average value and reduce the total annual building energy consumption. Data on the angle-dependent measured or calculated thermal and optical properties of the facade elements will be stored in the controller, allowing it to take them into account in an "intelligent" way. Glare criteria for objects producing bright light spots will be developed, which can be used for control purposes. A new device for bi-directional measurement of localised luminance peaks will be developed. A design tool will predict the energy impact of different control strategies and the frequency of occurrence of visually or thermally uncomfortable situations.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
