Seismic seabed system for deep-water operation, significantly improved imaging and efficiency for better reservoir management (DEEPSEIS)

Objective

The DeepSeis project has brought together a broad range of expertise in geophysics, seismic operations, marine applications and environmental studies to revolutionize the seismic seabed operation. Our objective is to provide a seismic seabed system for accurate monitoring of hydrocarbon reservoir and gas re-injection reservoirs. The system will enable better exploitation of hydrocarbon reserves and improve reservoir management, while minimizing drilling activity and its associated environmental impact. To achieve this, experts from industry, service companies and academia will focus on developing state of the art techniques to improve seismic image quality and repeatability through better sensor positioning, more efficient and lower cost operations in deep water environments, and reduced environmental impact. We will demonstrate the performance of the new system with an integrated field trial in collaboration with our oil company partner. Our results will be widely disseminated to enhance European technology and competitiveness worldwide.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
