A novel tri-generation electrogasdynamic converter system (TRI-GEN EGD)

Objetivo

Many buildings require simultaneous electricity, heating and cooling. The proposed regeneration EGD system could meet this requirement. This system is based on the integration of an ejector refrigeration cycle and an electro gasdynamic (EGD)converter. The former is used to produce cooling and heating and the latter are employed to convert thermal energy into electrical energy. The key component of the system is an EGD ejector and the electrodes of the EGD converter are mounted on the ejector. The system is therefore simple compared with conventional CHP sytems. The system could employ ''ozone-friendly" refrigerants such as water, methanol, ethanol, hydrocarbons, hydrofluoroethers (HFEs) or hydro fluorocarbons(HFCs). The system may be driven by solar energy, waste heat geothermal energy or hybrid heat source. Use of this system will be a contribution to the reduction of CO2 emission. This study will benefit European relevant industries.
