Research & development spending a survey of r&d spending for renewable energies in eu countries (REDS)

Objective

Key objective of REDS is an analytical survey of the expenditure in R&D for renewable energy sources (RES) in the EU and 15 Member States. By providing this objective REDS aims at giving: a first tool for a future coordination of the European and national funding of R&D for RES; some efficiency expenditure indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of national and European support programmes for R&D for RES;a support to the European Commission in monitoring the pending for RES research, in order to develop the internal electricity market . With the cross-national comparative survey of the expenditure in R&D for renewable, REDS supports the purpose of the Directive 200l/77/EC to create a basis for a future Community framework on RES. The aim is to use data collected from European and national sources for the calculation of indicators of performance in R&D spending.
