Exploitable results

Summary: The engineered prototype of a new gas analyzer was developed. The primary scope of the instrument was the measurement of atmospheric CO2 concentration with 0.1 ppm resolution (<1/1000). The system may be used at maximum resolution for measurements intervals of more than 10 s or at 10 measurement per second with reduced accuracy. The analyzer is also capable of measuring the 13C abundance in CO2 with 1/1000 accuracy and is therefore suitable for medical diagnosis applications (Helicobacter Pylori, etc). The detection limit for CO2 trace detection in high purity gases is 10 ppb. No sample dehydration is necessary. Calibration gas consumption is lower than for conventional NDIR instruments used for the same scopes. The system operates fully automatically. Other gases may be sensed with high accuracy by the use of a different diode laser.
