Resultados aprovechables

High precision measurements of the 13C/1 2C and D/H ratios of methane emissions from rice fields in Italy were carried out by mass spectrometry and tunable diode laser absorption spectrometry during two vegetation periods of rice. Significant seasonal variations were found for both isotopic ratios. The results confirm earlier observations by Bergamaschi [1 997] in finding a seasonal cycle with isotopicaly depleted methane in the main growing season and higher values at the beginning and the end of season during drainage of the field. Model simulation shows that this seasonality may be caused mainly by changing the partition between methane transport through plants relatively to the transport by bubbles in combination with changes of the oxidation rate. It was turned out that the D/H ratio is a good parameter for calculating the partition of methane oxidation.
