An invention has been made to remove dioxins from flue gases and later destruct them. The removal takes place in a fixed bed filter. The process has been tested during some weeks at two Swedish domestic waste incineration plants and has then demonstrated its ability to lower the concentration of dioxins to levels well below the European standard, 0,1 ng/normal cubic metre of gas. Those tests are, however, done during rather short periods of time. At the moment tests are performed at an incineration plant to study the applicability of the process for long periods. These tests are scheduled to be finalized, after a test period of 7 months, before the summer of 1999. Next step, if ongoing tests finalize successfully, should be a fullscale test at an installation in Europe with dioxin problems that have to be solved. The conditions for the incoming gas are: 1. A maximal temperature of 100 degrees Celsius 2. A maximal dust content of 10 mg/normal cubic metre
