Objective
Performance assessment of the thermal, solar, visual, characteristics of building components under realistic conditions and how they behave in real buildings is an important issue for improving the energy efficiency of buildings. Common test procedures and outdoor facilities (most of these so-called PASSYS or PASLINK test cells) are used in 12 European countries. The aim of the Thematic Network is to further develop common quality procedures for testing, calibration, data gathering, cleaning and analysis, test results interpretation and scaling/replication to real buildings, maintenance of test infrastructure. This should consolidate the collaboration between existing and test and lead to a common approach of support to developers of novel building components through semi-standardised tests and pragmatic, practicable and affordable but accurate procedures.
