CYBERSPACE LEARNING FOR KIDS

Objetivo

The CL4K project is building an intercultural electronic learning network to equip the children of today with employment skills for tomorrow's Information Society. The network will offer on-line learning facilities and access to databases where children learn and play together, with ongoing support from teachers and parents. Access by schools, homes, libraries and youth services will also be possible. Additional features are the development of multimedia and group learning on themes such as the environment and children's rights, and an intercultural learning project for children, teachers and parents. The project involves more than 750 teachers, 2,500 parents and 12,500 children across Europe.

Children of today will form 15.1% of the European population by the 21st Century and be entering an employment market focused on the Information Society. The CL4K project aims to develop an intercultural electronic learning network across Europe for children aged 5-16 .The network will offer on-line facilities and provide an environment within which children can lean together and play together, teachers can develop and deliver learning activities, data bases of information and teaching and learning resources are accessed and parents can be involved in the process of education and child development.

The project will involve Children, Teachers and Parents from the UK, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Greece and Germany. The collaboration of 753 teachers, 12545 children, 2705 parents across Europe working with other specialists in the field.
