RECONSTRUCTION OF QUANTITATIVE CLIMATIC DATA FROM ISOTOPES OF ORGANIC MATTER

Objective

QUANTITATIVE CLIMATIC DATA RECONSTITUTION FROM ORGANIC MATTER ISOTOPES STUDY

RECENT RESEARCHES CONCERNING 18 0 CONTENT OF FRESH ORGANIC MATTER HAVE SHOWN RELATIONS BETWEEN 18 0 DATA ON THE ONE HAND AND TEMPERATURES IN TEMPERATR AREAS, PRECIPITATIONS IN TROPICAL AREAS ON THE OTHER HAND. THESE RELATIONS COULD BE USED FOR APPLICATIONS IN PALEOCLIMATE STUDY. EXPERIMENTS DONE ON PEATS AND TREE RINGS HAVE SHOWN GOOD CORELATIONS WITH CLIMATIC CONDIITONS (TEMPERATURES IN TEMPERATE AREAS).
THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH PROPOSAL IS THE USE OF THIS NEW TECHNIQUE FOR THE RECONSTITUTION OF PALEOTEMPERATURES IN EUROPEAN AREAS AND THIS BY THE STUDY OF: A) PEATS, B) TREE RINGS, C) FOSSIL WOOD.
