Objective
STUDY OF MICROBIAL POLLUTION IN CLOSED INDUSTRIAL COOLING SYSTEMS.
THE PROPOSED RESEARCH WILL COVER TWO TOPICS:
DEVELOPMENTS OF "QUICK-RESPONSE" INSTRUMENTAL METHODS FOR MEASURING:
- TOTAL MICROBIAL BIOMASS VIA ATP MEASURING TECHNIQUES OR OTHER SPECIFIC BIOCHEMICAL INDICATORS IN CASE OF VERY HIGH LEVELS OF POLLUTANTS;
- DEVELOPMENT OF NEW METHODS USING CULTURES IN LIQUID MEDIUM WITH INSTRUMENTAL DETECTION OF ELECTROCHEMICALLY DETECTABLE METABOLITES,
- SPECIFIC MICROBIAL BIOMASS (COLIFORMS AND E. COLI) USING THE ELECTROCHEMICAL DETECTION METHOD OF WILKINS.
STUDY OF THE MICROBIOLOGICAL CONTAMINATION OF WATER IN CLOSED INDUSTRIAL COOLING SYSTEMS:
- TO SOLVE TYPICAL CASES IN THE FOLLOWING INDUSTRIES: PULP AND PAPER, CHEMICAL AND AGRO-ALIMENTARY INDUSTRIES, METALLURGY;
- TO IDENTIFY THE PROCESSES OF MICROBIOLOGICAL CONTAMINATION;
- TO STUDY PREVENTIVE AND CURATIVE SOLUTIONS IN DEFINING THE EXTENT OF THE USE OF INORGANIC AND ORGANIC BIOCIDS AND AN OPTIMAL STRATEGY FOR THEIR USE TO SOLVE PRACTICAL PROBLEMS.
