Objective
TO DEVELOP AND APPLY TECHNIQUES FOR THE MAPPING OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AT THE REGIONAL LEVEL.
1) ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES AT THE REGIONAL LEVEL (E.G. HOUSING, INDUSTRY, TRANSPORT), IN COMBINATION WITH EMISSION OR NUISANCE FACTORS ARE USED TO ESTIMATE THE SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF POLLUTION.
2) AN ASSESSMENT OF THIS DISTRIBUTION AND OF INDICATORS OF SENSITIVITY OF THE VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL MEDIA ENABLES EVALUATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL RISK/IMPACT.
3) THESE METHODS ARE APPLIED TO SELECTED REGIONS IN THE COMMUNITY, AND THE VALIDITY OF THE APPROACH IS TESTED, WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE SOIL ENVIRONMENT.
