NUMERIC RECONSTRUCTION OF LAST CLIMATIC CYCLE IN EUROPE FROM POLLEN TIME-SERIES

Objective

RECONSTRUCTION OF CLIMATIC CHANGES DURING GLACIAL/INTERGLACIAL CYCLE.

THE RECONSTRUCTION OF CLIMATIC CHANGES IN EUROPE DURING THE LAST GLACIAL/INTEGLACIAL CYCLE WILL BE CARRIED OUT COLLABORATION WITH OTHER EUROPEAN GROUPS AS FOLLOWS :
1. DETERMINATION OF THE PROPER SOUNDING SITE WITH PROSPECTIVE BORING AND DATA COLLECTION
2.PALYNOLOGICAL ANALYSIS
3.SEDIMENTOLOGICAL ANALYSIS
4.IDENTIFICATION OF SEDIMENTARY ANNUAL DEPOSITS
5.IDENTIFICATION OF AUTO-ECOLOGICAL FACTORS
6. IMPROVEMENT AND UTILISATION OF THE TRANSFER FUNCTIONS.

THE MAIN CONTRIBUTION OF UCL TO THE PROJECT WOULD BE THE SEDIMENTOLOGICAL ANALYSES. SUCH ANALYSES WOULD PROVIDE THE CHARACTERIZATION OF THE AVAILABLE TECHNIC SIGNALS OF SEDIMENTARY AND POST SEDIMENTARY FACIES (COMPACTION AND REBEDDING).
