Objective TO ASSESS THE VARIABILITY OF WATER VAPOUR BUDGET. THE WATER VAPOUR TRANSPORT AND BUDGET OVER A DOMAIN BOUNDED IN LATITUDE BY 27.5 DEGREES N AND 10 DEGREES W, 40 DEGREES E IN LONGITUDE WILL BE STUDIED. THE STUDY WILL FOCUS ON THE ANNUAL CYCLE AND THE INTER ANNUAL VARIABILITY. THE ROLE PLAYED BY THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA IN THE MOISTURE BUDGET OF SOUTHERN EUROPA COUNTRIES WILL BE DETERMINED. ANALYZED GRIDDED FIELDS DETERMINED TWICE A DAY BY THE EUROPEAN CENTER FOR MEDIUM RANGE WEATHER FORECAST DURING THE PERIOD 1980-86 WILL MAINLY BE USED. WATER VAPOUR BUDGET STUDIES WILL BE CARRIED OUT OVER THE ENTIRE DOMAIN AND OVER REGIONAL AREAS SUCH AS THE IBERIC PENINSULA, ITALY AND GREECE. THE INFLUENCE OF MEDIUM-RANGE METEOROLOGICAL PHENOMENA (BLOCKING, TROUGH ETC...) ON THE WATER VAPOUR BUDGET OF CERTAIN AREAS WILL ALSO BE STUDIED.
