MODELLING EFFECTS OF CLIMATE ON CROP PRODUCTIVITY

Objective

EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF CLIMATIC CHANGES AND VARIABILITY ON CROP PRODUCTIVITY.

THE PROJECT DEALS WITH THE STUDY AND MODELLING OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS ON CROPPING SYSTEM. A MODELLING APPROACH IS USED TO ASSESS AND TO ESTIMATE ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL ON ASSIMILATION AND MORPHOGENESIS OF SOME STRATEGIC CROPS AND OF THE MOST IMPORTANT EUROPEAN WEED SPECIES. THE REGULATION OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS IN A CO2 ENRICHED ENVIRONMENT AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CLIMATIC CHANGE AND CROP MICROMETEOROLOGY ARE ALSO TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.
THE FOLLOWING RESEARCH WILL BE UNDERTAKEN :

1)SELECTED MEASUREMENTS OF 3 TYPICAL WINTER WHEAT DEVELOPMENT PHASES OF
-INTERCEPTION OF RADIATION
-ALBEDO
-TEMPERATURE
-VAPOUR PRESSURE GRADIENT

2) MEASUREMENTS OF FIELD DISTRIBUTIONS AT 16 EQUIDISTANT POINTS OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED PARAMETERS

3)ANALYSIS OF MEASUREMENST OF
-AIR TEMPERATURE OVER THE CROP
-VAPOUR PRESSURE GRADIENT AT THE SAME SITE
-SOIL TEMPERATURE UNDER THE CROP AT 2, 10, 20 CM

4)STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF THE MEASURED DATA (MULTIPLE REGRESSION, FACTOR ANALYSIS, EXTREME VALUE INVESTIGATION).
