RESEARCH ON CONTINUOUS AND INSTANTANEOUS HEAVY GAS CLOUDS

Objective

TO PROVIDE IMPROVED METHODS WHETHER NUMERICAL OR PHYSICAL TO PREDICT THE BEHAVIOUR OF HEAVY GAS CLOUDS.

RISO'S SPECIFIC TASK WITHIN THE PROJECT WILL BE FORMS TO WORK ON THE FULL SCALE EXPERIMENTAL AND DATA ANALYSIS PART OF THIS PROJECT. THE AIM IS TO CREATE A DATABASE ON THE EFFECT OF SIMPLE OBSTACLES (SUCH AS 2-D FENCES) ON THE DISPERSION OF HEAVY GAS PLUMES, AND TO COMPARE THE RESULTS WITH EXISTING SIMPLE MODELS. IT IS FURTHERMORE PROPOSED TO CONDUCT A CASE STUDY HEAVY GAS DISPERSION ON A REAL INDUSTRIAL SITE, AND TO COMPARE THE RESULTS WITH WIND TUNNEL SIMULATION OF THAT SITUATION.
