Objective TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BENCHMARK EXERCICE BY PERFORMING THE RISK ASSESSMENT OF THE S I C N G AMMONIA STORE PLANT. THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH CAN BE SUMMARIZED AS FOLLOWS : - TO COMPARE METHODS, ANALYSIS MODELS, DATA AND PROCEDURES; - TO ASSESS THE UNCERTAINTIES, THEIR ORIGIN AND MAGNITUDE; - TO ACHIEVE A COMMON UNDERSTANDING OF THE STATE OF THE ART IN MAJOR HAZARD ANALYSIS - POSSIBLY, TO IDENTIFY WHERE FURTHER RESEARCH WOULD BE MOST USEFUL. THE WORK WILL BE PERFORMED IN CLOSE COLLABORATION BY THE NUCLEAR SAFETY DEPARTMENT OF VINCOTTE AND BY THE DIVISION "CORPORATE HYGIENE, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT" OF SOLVAY. SOLVAY BRINGS ITS KNOWLEDGE OF ALL CHEMICAL PROCESSES, OF THE ANALYSIS METHODS USED IN THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, OF THE PROBLEMS LINKED WITH THE DISPERSION INTO THE ENVIRONMENT. VINCOTTE WILL USE THE METHODS AND TOOLS DEVELOPED FOR NUCLEAR SAFETY ANALYSIS, INCLUDING COMPUTER CODES LIKE CAFTS OR FRANTIC WHEN NEEDED.
