IN RECENT YEARS, ZONES WITHIN LAS MARISMAS HAVE HAD DECLINING CROP PRODUCTIVITY AND INCREASED SALINITY PROBLEMS. DAGRADATION OF SOIL STRUCTURE, STOPPAGE OF THE LEACHING PROCESS AND MALFUNCTIONING OF THE DRAINAGE NETWORKS AREA EVER-INCREASING PROBLEMS WHICH AFFECT THE QUALITY OF SOILS IN THE AREA. IN ADDITION, THE INTENSE AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITY IN THE RECLAIMED AREA ENDANGERS THE ECOSYSTEM OF THE NEARBY NATURAL PARK COTO DE DONNA.
