Objective
The project will investigate for the installation of a new low temperature desulphurisation process, the effects of introducing fuzzy logic and neural networks on the machines and on the process cycles in order to transfer the results to a number of process engineering installations. These may lead to an absorption rate of 100% for desulphurisation.
It is important that the requirements for process control and monitoring are known early in the design process. It is possible to use neural networks combined with fuzzy logic in the sector of process engineering machines and processes for monitoring and as closed loop and control. A large part of process engineering processes is marked by a multitude of parameters changing over time concerning their influence on the process cycle. As this happens in processes that ought to be steadystate processes, due to the complexity of the process and the multitude of parameters, the remaining in the range of optimum efficiency cannot be reached with existing technologies. This would be possible by means of an intelligent open-loop control that records all parameters and results in feedback to the process design stage.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
